Be still in the presence of the Lord.
January 10th 2011 » Comments » David Aldous

Here we are, beloved, at verse 7 of Psalm 37.  I love these times we have together, where we can study the word in detail, pursue Him with due diligence and make startling discoveries.  Take today for instance.  ’Be still in the presence of the Lord’.  When the Father is talking to you, you need to be quiet, to let Him talk.  How often are you in the presence of Almighty God?  How often would you like to be?  That is the question.  If you don’t find the time in your day for that, then the outcome will be that your relationship with Him will suffer beloved.  The Psalmist goes on to say, ‘Wait patiently for Him to act’.  There you go then.  It’s there in black and white so to speak.  You don’t need to think about that.  The word there is patience.  Wait patiently.  Don’t act like a petulant  child and demand that He does your bidding.  You have asked Him to do something for you.  Let’s say you are wanting healing.  If the Lord doesn’t respond immediately then you have to wait, and wait PATIENTLY.  Don’t keep on and on at Him

.

I remember as a child I would want something for Christmas.  i would constantly remind my dad what I wanted ‘Santa’ to bring me. He would after a while not respond to me at all.  It was as if he didn’t hear me anymore.  He heard clearly what I was saying but wouldn’t reply.  I would have to wait, and wait, and wait.  Do you know, beloved, when Christmas morning duly arrived, I would usually find my dad had given me what I asked for.  I believe it’s like that with my Heavenly Father.  He will provide for me because He has promised to provide for me.  (Matthew 6:10 ff). Don’t be like a lot of Christians today and spend your time moaning about this and that.  I want you to do something for me.  Will you?

OK what I want you to do today and for a week or so, is to count the number of times you complain about anything at all.  Every time you complain, then write down what you said and when.  Tell your wife, your husband, your friends, even your children.  Say to them, ‘Please let me know when I complain’.  You see, we have nothing to complain about beloved, if we have a real relationship with the Lord. Why?  I am glad you asked me that.  Because, if God is to believed then He knows are needs and wants even before we ask them.  He has ‘counted the hairs on our head, (Luke 12:7 Matthew 10:30).

He loves you and wants only the best for you.  If you are going through hard ship right now then tell the Lord that you are suffering and wait for His response.  Just ‘STOP MOANING’, it will get you nowhere.  Tomorrow we will look at the end of this awesome verse.

A prayer:  Father, I ask You, in Jesus name to point out to me when I am moaning and complaining.  Father, I trust You and I love you. Change my perspective Lord and make me more like Your son Jesus, I pray.  In Jesus’ name  Amen
