Gordon grew up in Liverpool and worked for the Civil Service before going to Bible College where he met Lorna, who was already a student there. As a child, he went every year, with his family, to the Isle of Man for his summer holidays. There, he found a Scripture Union Beach Mission, were he committed his life to Christ, at 11 years old. Years later, the Lord led him to join Scripture Union as a Children's Evangelist and be in charge of their work in the North of England. In recent years, opportunities have come to service in various means, including being a Trustee of Reinhard Bonnke's ministry in the UK, Christ for all Nations; Barry and Batya Segal's ministry, the Joseph Storehouse Trust; and Tommy Tenney's ministry, the God Chasers Network UK. Gordon is also Trustee of the Revelation Foundation.
